I tried this and found it way, way, way too salty. The salt in the soy sauce (and fish sauce?) overpowered almost everything else. Ill try again and cut back on those two things!

I made this exactly to the recipe off the blog. Intense, enjoyable flavour but thought the marinade was a bit salty and too much cumin which gave it a more Indian flavour than Thai. Halve the Cumin and reduce soy/fish sauce. Had the peanut sauce which I thought was OK but could be better.
Boo cayenne! It doesn't need to go in every dish.

So I know I'm commenting on a rather old video, but I'd love to hear more on how you know / decide how long to marinade. In this video you say 2-4 hours, and NOT over night. Why/how did you decide that? The way you say it makes it seem like you've tried it both ways, so then what would make you prefer one over the other? I guess I'm just not sure how I'd even tell the difference.
With all the technology we have discovered in the past 30 years, computers,cell phones,etc… why did it take us thousands of years to figure out that if you manufactured a skewer that was flat like a popsicle stick instead of cylindrical like a pencil, your food will not spin around as you turn the skewers on a grill. Maybe we are not as smart as we thought we were, lol
