Hi! I’m Harry Soo, a Grand Champion pitmaster from in Diamond Bar, near Los Angeles. Welcome to my vlogs, BBQ product reviews, travel & lifestyle videos, BBQ contests, classes, as well as interviews and stories.

On weekdays, I’m an IT nerd living a Dilbertesque existence in a fabric covered cubicle in downtown LA. I’m the head tour guide for a team of IT project managers who build datacenters, networks, servers, and infrastructure that helps bring tap water to 300 cities and 20 million residents in SoCal.

On weekends, I come alive as a pitmaster, competitor, and BBQ instructor. You’ve seen me on BBQ Pitmasters, Food Network, Chopped Grill Masters, Smoked, Cutthroat Kitchen, and local TV in California. My shtick is I’ve used a humble 18-inch Weber Smokey Mountain smoker to win 100+ first places and 1st place USA in the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) awards including best chicken, brisket, and sirloin; and I’ve won over 27 Grand Championships. I’ve personally taught 200+ classes and trained 3,000+ pitmasters in small hands-on dozen student classes in the US, Sydney, London, Kuala Lumpur, Canada, and Hawaii.

I get many questions weekly about how to grill and barbecue. Since I started cooking professionally in 2008, I’ve answered thousands via email so I decided to post my answers via video to reach a wider audience. I’ll do my best to post a video on my channel periodically. I upload vlogs, BBQ product reviews, travel & lifestyle videos, BBQ contests, classes; as well as interviews and stories.

  • When I go to bbq joints I don’t test their briskets or ribs . I check their chicken because if they can’t cook chicken the rest will be bad .I’ll be their soon to try .

  • In your and Im not here Master BBQ Judges opinion would the pulled pirk have faired better without the sauce and what would increase the Mac n Cheese rating. Thanks for keeping me longing for quality bbq.

  • Harry was in Houston… and didn't give a notice… It's not like we'd find him to make him cook BBQ for us all day. But Pinkerton's pretty good. I think it's nicer than Truth BBQ. It's nice because it doesn't have the long line that Killen's BBQ has. Jackston Street is decent, but I think it's more about being a post-baseball game BBQ place since it's walking distance to stadium. The Pit Room is consistent, it's not the most wow, but you feel it's a step above the standard metric. But here's a thought… open a Harry's BBQ in Houston? yeah? Franchise opportunity there!

  • Can’t wait to see if HTown or ATX has the better bbq. Truth, Pinkerton’s and Killen’s, all mentioned by others are definitely the best in Houston IMO!

  • Been watching you ever since bbq pittmaster the first episode! I think your just awesome ?

    Been trying to cook brisket to perfection. I know that the meat is important when choosing one but the cooking part, does it have to be low and slow to achieve tenderness or hot and fast, reach 170 wrap and then probe tender until peanut butter consistently? Pleas help
