Daniel shows you how to make Korean Grilled Mackerel. This is a very common homecooking dish in Korea. Pacific Mackerel is light, white fish that’s rich in omega 3. Best of all, its cheap too! Great to include as part of a balanced diet. I grew up eating it at least once a week!
I also show you how to make Braised Mackerel with Radish. This is a savory dish, where we braise mackerel and radish in a flavored soy sauce broth. The result is what we call a “rice killer”. See video for more!

If you're not going to eat rice… ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑThere's a few other ways to reduce that fishy odour.
#1) Soak in milk for 10-15 minutes (Substance called Casein found in milk that binds with the fish odor)
#2) Pour 1:1 equal amount of vinegar + cold water (Not as effective as milk, reduced smell about 50%)
For both ways, remember to rinse-off afterwards!
Always say no to Stinky Fish!
what about salt and pepper?
I don't eat rice, any tips on what to use instead of the rice starch to remove the fish odour? Or can one skip this step?
Thank you. I tried your recipe during this quarantine. It is super delicious.

Thank you for making this video. I need to learn how to make it. My mom used to cook for me. The second recipe is what I am looking for. Thank you again. Can't wait to make it my own.
O yummers- you explained that like a boss! Is this the same recipe koreans use but with codfish? That red sauce and the korean radishes look like the same ingredients used for that. Thanks
If the fish has a head, another good tip to know if the fish is fresh is to look at the eyes. Fresh fish have nice glossy eyes. If the fish is not so fresh, the eyes look dull and dried.
Love it๐๐๐๐๐๐
4:36 that's what good pussy sounds like
Thank you for sharing the recipe!
Thankyou. Tried the fried recipe for tea last night. No smell, no splatter, never used seasoned flour before, it was absolutely delicious. Also noticed the fish didn't repeat afterwards.
