  • I can't wait to try this recipe. I moved from CA to TN 10 years ago and we don't have much in the way of good food around here. I have managed to learn to cook most things at home but I still struggle with chicken because Im very picky about how it comes out. EPL was my favorite version of chicken and I've tried these copy recipes before and been disappointed. But this looks good. Shopping for spices today.

  • They marinate and baste their chicken through the cooking process… but knowing Mexican food, the recipe isn't that complicated. Looks good never the less. (Oh and they use the drippings for the rice) ?❤

  • I just tried this recipe, and really sucked. I honestly have never ate at El Pollo Loco, but I’d heard about them  and had seen their website, and it looked really good. If this really is anything what their food actually tastes like, remind me to never eat there. I had serious doubts about a couple of the ingredients in the is recipe, but I unfortunately trusted this recipe. It seemed strange that any kind of Mexican dish like this would call for allspice. But it was only 1/4 teaspoon, so I figured maybe it’d be okay. But even that little amount just overpowered everything else. And he says “It smells amazing” as it cooks? It actually smelled like someone was canning sweet pickles in my kitchen, disgusting. And I wondered about the rice vinegar too, especially since it was such a large amount, instead of just a few tablespoons. Vinegar can really break down the calcium in something like chicken and give it a mushy disgusting texture, which worried me even more, since he said to marinate it overnight. Sure enough, that’s what happened. It might have been an okay recipe if it weren’t for those two things. If you try this, I’ll warn you to skip the allspice and vinegar. I can't imagine someone thinking allspice would be good in a Mexican dish.

  • Nice try but we don't use rice vinegar, paprika, or a couple other things you've got there. That said, it seems like a good recipe and may give it a try.
